Mobile Ad Boss Reportedly Leaving Apple

Another top executive is leaving Apple.

According to sources speaking with The Wall Street Journal and All Things Digital, Andy Miller – Apple’s mobile ad chief who oversees the iAd platform – is set to depart from the iconic Cupertino, California-based tech giant.

Miller hired in at Apple as VP of mobile advertising following his work at Quattro Wireless, which he co-founded five years ago.

Just last year, Apple acquired Quattro Wireless for a reported $270 million.

Since Miller got to Apple, he has reported directly to its CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs, who noted after the acquisition: “We tried to buy a company named AdMob, but Google came in and snatched them from us. So we bought Quattro, and they are teaching us. We are making ads that are different than anything I’ve ever seen.”

Miller is believed to be leaving Apple in order to become a general partner at Highland Capital, a Boston-based venture firm that initially funded Quattro Wireless.
