NCR Corporation, a global leader in omni-channel solutions, recently unveiled its new NCR Mobile Payments solution at the NACS Show, the leading convenience and fuel retailing event.

The cloud-based solution enables fast mobile transactions for a variety of mobile wallets and card schemes, allowing retailers of all sizes to offer their customers greater payment flexibility without having to install new hardware.

The solution is built on P97’s PetroZone® platform, one of the industry’s most mature, end-to-end mobile payment platforms in the United States. It ties directly with the NCR RPOS and EPS point of sale solutions to enable fast, easy, indoor and outdoor mobile payments at gas stations and convenience stores around the U.S., and eventually around the world.

“This landmark agreement with NCR enables us to stay ahead of the innovation curve and offer customers convenient mobile payments, both inside the store and at the pump,” said Don Frieden, Founder and CEO, P97 Networks.

NCR Corporation and PayPal are cooking up something for avid restaurant goers.

On Tuesday, the freshly-fashioned mobile partners announced an agreement to integrate NCR’s mobile solutions for hospitality and retail with PayPal’s leading digital payment technology.

The combination provides restaurants and retailers an easy, powerful way to offer consumers a rich mobile and digital payment experience when buying the goods and services they want.

John Bruno, CTO and EVP at NCR, sees the partnership as a slam-dunk.

“Combining NCR’s broad hospitality and retail footprint with PayPal’s global customer base enables restaurants and retailers to redesign the consumer experience with mobile-enhanced shopping and payments while materially improving business processes and creating seamless consumer experiences across touch points, locations, and channels,” Bruno says.

The statistics show that consumers definitely want more mobile tech in their dining experiences.

According to the National Restaurant Association’s 2013 Restaurant Industry Forecast, restaurant guests are seeking more and better tableside technology. 44 percent of consumers surveyed say they would use a tableside ordering system, nearly one-third would use mobile payment options and 50 percent would use smartphone apps for viewing menu, ordering or making reservations.

Fortunately for PayPal and NCR, less than 10 percent of table service restaurants currently offer these options. That’s precisely where PayPal and NCR can clean up nicely.

NCR Corporation, a provider of POS solutions for a wide variety of industries, today announced that its acquired Mobiqa, a mobile startup that provides mobile ticketing and barcode solutions.

NCR calls Mobiqa a “global pioneer and market leader in the delivery of mobile optimized content.”  What that means is the technology for things like mobile ticketing, boarding passes, downloadable applications and coupons for the travel, entertainment and retail sectors.  The company is able to deliver content to smartphones and feature phones via 600+ mobile networks in over 150 countries worldwide.

Using SMS, MMS, web links and email technologies for barcode delivery to mobile phones, Mobiqa offers fully optimized mobile website content for m-commerce transactions and downloadable applications in the airline, cinema, live events, rail and retail sectors.  NCR was interested in the company to focus its strategy on the travel industry, where things like mobile ticketing and boarding passes are the way of the future.

NCR’s core business is point-of-sale solutions, both assisted and self-service — things like ATMs, kiosks and other business solutions.  Adding a mobile technology company with similar interests and direction was a smart move.

“This strategic acquisition signals NCR’s commitment to building out our mobile platform to support the delivery of our seamless multichannel strategy,” said John Bruno, executive vice president for NCR.  “We are dedicated to making consumers’ experience of interacting with businesses easier by giving them the ability to move seamlessly between self-service mobile, online and kiosk channels.”
